Description

The garden walls, gate piers, and greenhouse located north of Walworth Castle date from the mid-19th century. They are constructed of patched brick in an irregular English garden wall bond, with a squared stone outer face on the north wall and the western half of the south wall. The gate piers are made of dressed stone and feature pyramidal caps. The greenhouse is a glazed wooden structure situated in a set-back section at the center of the north wall. The walls enclose a large rectangular garden, with the north and south walls measuring 140 meters in length. The east and west walls are 45 meters long and include short raking sections that step down the garden slope towards the south. The greenhouse has a large central section flanked by lower wings. This structure is included for its group value. The rubble walls on the north-west and south-west are not of special interest.
