Description

GLANTON GLANTON PIKE NU 01 SE 8/211 Walls enclosing garden 100 metres east of Glanton Pike GV II

Garden wall, partly heated, early C19. Brick it English Garden Wall bond 1 + 3, external faces roughly-squared stone, cut dressings. Trapezoidal plan with northern angles rounded. Tall walls with slightly-raised stone coping on east, north and west; east and west walls have boarded doors in tooled ashlar alternating-block surrounds; north wall has boarded double doors near centre and 4 moulded circular stone chimneypots from heating ducts. Lower south wall has flat coping, stepped down at each end, and short extension at south-east corner to enclose greenhouses. External face of north wall shows blocked heating ducts. Greenhouse and pent outbuildings on north are not of special interest.
