Description
The garden wall to the east of Felton Park dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick in an irregular largely stretcher bond, with cut stone coping and dressings. The wall stands approximately 3.5 metres high and connects to the northeast corner of the main house, extending north and then returning east alongside the road. There are boarded doors near the corner in both sections, with the door in the roadside wall featuring a segmental rear arch and a brick inscription reading 'FB 1774' above it. The rear of this section contains various heating ducts. Beyond the boarded double gates, there is an external projection that houses a furnace. The section past the greenhouse has two old doors made of broad boards with moulded edges, set in alternating-block surrounds, and features external pilaster buttresses. After a short step northwards, the coping is ramped down twice. The overall length of the wall is approximately 250 metres, ending at a straight joint with a later wall that is not of interest. An altered 19th-century building located at the rear of the wall near the east end is not considered to be of special interest.
