Description
The Old Vicarage and attached cottage is a building from the mid-18th century, which is said to include older materials in the cottage section. There were alterations made to the rear in the late 19th or early 20th century. The structure is made of squared stone and has a Welsh slate roof.
The north elevation features two storeys and five bays, arranged symmetrically. The central doorway has a renewed door with a radial fanlight and sidelights, all framed by a segmental arch. The windows are 12-pane sash types with chamfered surrounds and slightly projecting sills, and they have fielded-panel shutters. The gables are coped, and there are stepped and corniced stacks at the ends. To the left, the lower two-bay cottage displays 12-pane sashes, except for a 20th-century casement window in an older opening on the first floor to the left, and it has a ridge stack.
On the rear elevation, the late 19th or early 20th-century wing features a re-set triangular tablet above the door on the left return, which is inscribed with a historical message referencing Robert Henderson and the year 1683.
