Description
The ice house located to the east of Quarry End is a large structure built into the bankside, dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a brick-lined interior. The entrance passage is short and barrel-vaulted, though it has partly collapsed at the front. Inside, there is a deep, egg-shaped chamber. It is worth noting that the house known as Quarry End does not appear on the Ordnance Survey map.
