Description
The milepost at High Coniscliffe Bridge is a late 19th-century structure made of cast iron, painted white with raised black letters. It has a triangular shape with a sloping top and a semicircular back plate. The back plate features the words "DURHAM COUNTY." On the left side, there is a pointing hand indicating "BARNARD CASTLE 12 MILES," and on the right side, another pointing hand shows "DARLINGTON 4 MILES."
