Description

This is a milepost from the late 19th century located between numbers 8 and 9 on Beacon Hill in Sadberge. It is made of cast iron and painted white, featuring raised letters painted black. The milepost has a triangular shape with a sloping top and a semicircular back plate. The back plate displays "DURHAM COUNTY." On the left side, there is a pointing hand indicating "STOCKTON 8 MILES," and on the right side, another pointing hand shows "DARLINGTON 3 MILES."
