Description
Tithe House is a former farmhouse, previously known as Town Farm, now a private residence. It dates from the early to mid-18th century and consists of two builds: the original section on the left and 19th-century alterations and additions. The building is constructed of rendered and painted brick, featuring a renewed pantiled roof with rebuilt brick chimney stacks. It has two storeys and three widely spaced bays. To the left of the center, there is a four-panel door with an overlight. The original six-pane sash windows have been replaced, but they still have projecting stone sills. The stepped eaves courses add to the architectural detail. The steeply pitched roof has swept eaves and raised verges, supported by corbelled-out kneelers, with end and ridge stacks. At the rear, there are scattered late 20th-century casement windows and an added single-storey outshut under a pent roof. Inside, the ground-floor room on the left features transverse ceiling beams of heavy scantling. A 20th-century lean-to addition on the left return is not of interest.
