Description

The Three Tuns Public House is a public house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It features pebble-dashed brick walls and a chimney stack, topped with a French-tiled roof. The building is arranged in an L-shape on a corner site and is two stories high with a three-bay entrance front. There are two steps leading up to a central six-panel door, which has a two-pane overlight above it, all set under a wedge lintel. On either side of the door are late 19th to early 20th century three-light windows that contain engraved glass. Above the door is a blank bay flanked by replaced sash windows. The eaves have stepped courses, and the steeply-pitched roof features swept eaves, hipped over the right return, and a stone-coped left gable. There are chimney stacks at the left end and on the ridge. The right return has three bays and consists of two builds, with three similar three-light windows on the ground floor; the central window has been inserted into a partly-blocked doorway. Above, there are two 12-pane sash windows. The eaves courses are stepped, and the steeply-pitched roof has a stone-coped rear gable. An altered range on the rear gable end is noted as not being of special interest.
