Description

Nos. 24 and 25 on The Green are a pair of houses built in the late 18th to early 19th century, with some alterations. The front features roughcast and painted masonry, while the sides and rear are made of coursed cobbles. The houses have a pantiled roof and rendered brick chimney stacks, designed in a reversed U-plan with two short wings at the back. They are two storeys tall and have six windows in total.

No. 24, which is on the right, has two windows, a replaced door in the right end bay, and 16-pane sash windows with projecting sills. No. 25 has a replaced door with a 4-pane overlight to the left, a late 20th-century garage opening to the right, replaced sashes with projecting sills, and a 16-pane sash window above the garage doors. The roof is continuous with raised verges and features end stacks and two ridge stacks. The rear wings are two storeys and two bays wide, with roughly-shaped quoins. The wing on No. 25 has 12-pane sashes on the first floor, and the roof is hipped over the wings. A late 20th-century outshut between the rear wings is not of special interest. The houses are included for their group value.
