Description

The Mill House is a house that was formerly a water mill, built in the late 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed from squared limestone and features pantiled roofs and brick chimney stacks. The building has a linear range, with a tall former mill section on the right, a lower mill house on the left, and a wheel house on the right.

The two-storey, two-bay mill section includes a large semicircular archway with tooled-and-margined voussoirs and late 20th-century glazing. The sashes on the right and above have been replaced. The two-storey, three-bay mill house has tooled-and-margined quoins on the left, a central replaced door, and replaced sashes with projecting sills. It has a low-pitched roof with a raised left verge and rebuilt end and ridge stacks.

The short single-storey wheel house has a roof with a raised right verge. At the rear of the former mill house, there are two two-storey gabled wings that feature scattered 16-pane sashes and a 28-pane stair window. Additionally, there is a small blocked semicircular arch on the rear of the wheel house, which is situated over the former mill race.
