Description
The front walls and gate piers to Low Startforth Hall and Low Startforth Hall East are garden walls, likely built in the late 18th century. They are made of roughly-squared stone with cut dressings. The gate piers at Low Startforth Hall East feature a band below pyramid caps, and the wall has flat slab coping that ramps up on either side. To the left, there is a wall with a boarded door that ramps down at the far left. To the right, the wall curves along Boldron Lane, and beyond a recessed entrance to Low Startforth Hall, it returns to connect with the house. The gateway in this section has plain piers with coping that ramps down on either side. These structures are included for their group value.
