Description
No. 23 Low Startforth Road is a house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of stone with a rendered finish and features a graduated stone slate roof, which has a brick stack rebuilt on an old base. The building stands two storeys high and has two bays. The central door has been renewed and is flanked by sash windows that have lost their glazing bars. The first-floor windows are Yorkshire sashes arranged in pairs, except for the 20th-century glazing on the far right. The left gable is coped and has a moulded kneeler, while the end stacks include one that has been rebuilt on the right side. The rear elevation displays paired stone-surround windows above a contemporary outshut, with one window partly blocked and the other featuring a Yorkshire sash. The paired first-floor windows suggest that the space may have been used as a weaving room. This building is included for its group value.
