Description
The garden walls, railings, and gate to Startforth Lodge were likely built in 1853. They are constructed from squared rubble with cut dressings and feature wrought iron elements. The low wall, which has chamfered coping, runs along the south and east sides of the garden and supports railings with spearhead standards, except for the northern part of the east side. There is a wrought-iron gate with scroll-topped detailing on the south, flanked by monolith arched piers. The taller wall on the west side has stepped flat coping and connects to the south-west corner of the house. A greenhouse located on the outer face of the west wall is not considered of special interest.
