Description

The forecourt wall and gate piers to Low Hall, likely built in the late 17th century, are constructed from rubble with cut dressings. The wall features a central gateway that is inswept at the ends, connecting to short returns that link with the south front of Low Hall. The wall has a low arched coping that ramps up at the junction with each of the twelve low piers. These piers have raised central pilasters and low pyramidal caps topped with fluted finials. The coping is stepped and ramps up to similar but taller gate piers, which support a 20th-century wrought iron gate.
