Description

This listing covers a group of three houses: Waverley House, Holly House (number 5), and Glenthorne, dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. Waverley House is constructed of rubble with raised quoins and dressings, while Holly House and Glenthorne are built of ashlar. All three have Welsh slate roofs with stepped brick stacks, some of which have been heightened.

Each house is two storeys high and three bays wide, maintaining a symmetrical appearance. Waverley House has a central entrance with flush-panelled double doors set within a moulded stone surround, now within an early 20th-century half-glazed porch. It features 16-pane sash windows with raised lintels and sills. Holly House and Glenthorne both have plinths and end pilasters, with central entrances. Holly House has a six-panel door, and Glenthorne a nine-panel door, both within corniced stone surrounds, and each is topped with a Geometrical overlight window. These houses also feature 12-pane sash windows. All have coped gables, with stepped stacks placed at the ends of the buildings and between the houses.
