Description

Number 37 is a house with attached walls and railings, built around 1825. It is constructed of coursed squared stone, featuring an ashlar plinth and dressings. The roof is made of Welsh slate with a stone ridge and chimneys. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a two-window range. There are steps on the right leading to a six-panel door with an overlight that has decorative glazing bars. To the left, there is a canted bay window with four-pane sash windows. The first-floor windows, set on a sill band, have 16 panes on the left and 12 panes on the right, both in projecting stone surrounds. The stone eaves gutter has a cornice. The roof dormers feature 16-pane and 12-pane sashes, slate hung sides, and low pitched roofs with barge boards on the gables. There are end stone chimneys, with the left one banded and the right one having steeply sloped coping, which is shared with adjacent houses. The interior has not been inspected. The front retaining wall of the garden is made of coursed squared stone with flat ashlar coping. The square entrance piers have channelled rustication and pyramidal coping, while spike-headed railings flank the path and steps leading to the door.
