Description
Number 17 is a house from the late 18th century, with lower courses that are likely medieval. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with quoins for the first one and a half meters from the ground, and features English garden wall bond brick above, mostly in a five and one pattern, with ashlar dressings. The roof is made of Welsh slate. Attached to the house is a wall that may date back to the 17th century, made of sandstone rubble with a flat stone coping.
The building has two storeys and a basement, with two bays and a right extension that is also two storeys but only one bay wide. The entrance features a renewed partly-glazed door in a low opening with a soldier-course lintel to the right. Above this, there is a renewed sash window with a flat stone lintel. Other windows are scattered and include stone or soldier-course lintels, renewed sashes, and a small cellar opening. The roof is hipped at the left over the first bay, has a pent over the second, and is not visible over the third. A front chimney is made of renewed brick.
