Description
No. 25 North Bailey is a house dating from around 1820. It is built of painted Flemish bond brick with painted ashlar dressings, featuring brick chimneys and iron area railings. The building has two storeys and a basement, with three windows. Access is gained by three steps leading up to a six-panel door that has carved panels and a patterned fanlight set in a deep round-arched reveal, framed by a fluted doorcase. The windows have flat brick arches and projecting stone sills, and there is an ornate wrought-iron boot-scraper at the entrance. The round-headed area railings and gate to the basement have principals topped with urn finials and plain handrails.
Inside, the large oval hall features a geometric staircase with patterned tread ends beneath an oval well light and an egg-and-dart cornice. The doors are six-panel designs set in fluted architraves with corner panels.
