Description
No. 28 North Bailey is a late 17th-century house constructed from sandstone blocks, featuring a chamfered plinth and a Welsh slate roof with a brick chimney. The building has three storeys and three bays. The entrance on the right is marked by a six-panelled door framed by a painted cyma-moulded architrave, with a rendered brick panel above it. The ground-floor windows are fitted with thin flat stone lintels and flat stone sills, and include sashes with glazing bars and external shutters. The first-floor windows, added in the late 19th century, are sashes in wide boxes, while the second floor features horizontal sliding sashes with glazing bars. A tall chimney is located at the rear left end of the house.
Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase with a pulvinated and dentilled closed string, complemented by a high narrow grip handrail supported by skittle balusters, and a panelled dado.
