Description

This milestone, dating from the 19th century, is located 300 metres east of the junction with Mount Eff Road on the south side of Darlington Road. It is made of sandstone and painted white. The stone has a single, square plan and stands approximately 0.75 metres high with a rounded top. On the north-west face, it features incised sans-serif letters painted black that read "D 14" for Darlington, while the north-east face displays "BC 2" for Barnard Castle.
