Description

This milestone, dating from the 19th century, is located 150 metres east of the junction with Tarn Lane. It is made of sandstone and has been painted white. The stone is square in shape and stands about 0.3 metres high, featuring a rounded top. On the north-east face, it has incised sans-serif letters painted black that read "BC 5" for Barnard Castle, while the north-west face displays "D 11" for Darlington.
