Description

The farmbuilding range to the west of Ovington Hall dates from the late 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble with cut dressings, featuring tooled and margined stonework on the early 19th-century stable. The roofs are covered with graduated stone slates, although part of the west range has asbestos sheets. The buildings form ranges on the north and west sides of a foldyard, with a stable located to the southwest.

The north range has a two-storey west part with five bays, featuring a four-bay arcade of partly-blocked three-centred arches with an impost band and small windows above. The eastern part is covered by a later shed. The west range is also two storeys and has eight bays, with three stable doors and a six-pane casement window set in raised stone surrounds, along with a boarded pitching door and small windows on the first floor. The roof is hipped to the left. The stable is a single storey with three bays, featuring a central stable door in a raised stone surround flanked by 12-pane casements, and a roof that is hipped to the left.

On the rear elevations, the eastern part of the north range has an external stone stair leading to a boarded door and renewed glazing in old openings. The western part features an outshut with a bell-cote on the left return, while the north end of the west range has slit vents and a boarded pitching door.

There is a 20th-century metal-roofed shed to the south of the eastern part of the north range, along with 20th-century brick sheds to the rear of the west range. A ruinous range south of the foldyard is not of special interest.
