Description
This milestone, dating from the 19th century, is located 50 metres north of Arlaw Banks along the A67 in Whorlton. It is made of sandstone and painted white. The stone has a single, square plan and stands approximately 0.5 metres high, featuring a rounded top. On the north-west face, there is an incised sans-serif inscription painted in black that reads "D 13" (indicating the distance to Darlington), while the north-east face displays "BC 3" (indicating the distance to Barnard Castle).
