Description

Water Gate is a gateway in the city wall, rebuilt in 1787. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings. The gateway features a high round moulded arch that is rebated on the inner face, set within a flat-coped wall. The outer face includes a drip-mould. This structure is also designated as a scheduled ancient monument.
