Description

The Cathedral Precinct Wall is a structure that appears to date from the 18th century, although it may be built on a medieval foundation. It is located on the west side of the Water Gate and adjoins the city wall. The wall is constructed from sandstone, which is coursed and squared but has suffered significant erosion. It is a tall wall that runs along the west side of South Bailey, extending as far as the steps south of No. 13. At the time of the survey, the top of the wall was covered in ivy.
