Description

This is a headstone from 1741, located 7 metres south of the Church of St. Romald in Romaldkirk. It commemorates Elizabeth Dent and is made of sandstone. The headstone features a recessed panel, flanked by fluted pilasters, and has an open-pedimented top. The inscription reads: "Here lies the body of Elizabeth the wife of John Dent who died Nov: ye 7th 1741." On the reverse side, there is a large relief of a heart within a raised moulded circle, along with an inscription for John Dent, who died on January 29th, 1744, aged 76 years.
