Description
182 and 183 Commercial Road are a pair of semi-detached villas dating to the mid-19th century, built in the Greek Revival style. The houses have rendered external walls and low-pitched, hipped slate roofs. A substantial central chimney stack has been rebuilt in yellow stock bricks, with a smaller stack on the left-hand gable. The central bay of the pair projects slightly, featuring simple rendered pilasters on the returns. A single-storey porch, supported by Ionic columns, projects from the outer bay. The windows are replacement sash windows, without glazing bars. A two-storey, square, projecting bay has been added to the extreme left-hand side. The central ground floor window has been altered with a dropped cill to create a glazed casement door. Original cast iron railings, also in the Greek Revival style, remain along the frontage.
