Description
11 Cardiff Road is a two-storey building featuring symmetrical Bathstone ashlar elevations. It has a low-pitched, slated roof behind a parapet, which is adorned with a moulded, projecting cornice. The facade includes a plain entablature supported by plain, full-height pilasters at either end. A projecting central bay is topped with a low-pitched pediment that has acroteria at the center and corners. The entrance is marked by a projecting porch supported by Ionic columns, flanked by canted bays that contain hornless sash windows with margin panes. On the first floor, there are three matching sash windows set within moulded architraves. A modern extension is located on the left side, while a single-storey extension with a mansard roof on the right is thought to incorporate an earlier coach house.
Inside, the building retains a well-preserved mid-19th century interior. The central hallway features the original staircase with stick balusters. The layout is symmetrical, with pairs of flanking rooms on either side. The front left room boasts a decorative plaster ceiling with a frieze below. There are also surviving doorcases with cresting above and four-panelled doors that display classical figures in relief in the upper panels.
