Description
109 Lower Dock Street is a three-storey building featuring Italianate detailing and a shallow roof that is set behind a parapet. The structure has a curved corner bay with an entrance on the ground floor. The doorway consists of a pair of three-panelled doors beneath a glazed, arched fanlight, flanked by fluted Ionic columns. Above the doorway is a tall, two-storey arched opening with a keystone, supported by plain columns with stiff leaf capitals.
The ground floor is divided into bays by heavy vermiculated and plain rusticated pilasters, with arch-headed, twelve-pane sash windows set beneath moulded architraves that include keystones. A bracketed stringcourse with dentil moulding runs between the ground and second floors. The first floor along Lower Dock Street mirrors the ground floor's design.
On the Ruperra Street side, the building features tall hall windows on the first floor within a projecting central bay, flanked by heavy rusticated pilasters and quoining. Above these windows are a series of Masonic devices set within roundels. A continuous impost band beneath the parapet is supported by paired consoles. The end bay of the Ruperra Street elevation has three arched, twelve-pane sash windows on the ground floor, also set within moulded architraves with keystones. The building is finished with plain render and moulded stringcourses at the parapet.
