Description
108 Lower Dock Street is a three-storey building featuring a chateau-style attic storey. It is five bays wide and constructed of yellow stock brick with Portland stone dressings, sitting above a rendered, rusticated ground floor. The central entrance has a doorcase with a timber three-panelled door, which is set beneath a semi-circular fanlight. This is flanked by rendered pilasters that support a corbelled balcony above.
On either side of the entrance, there is rusticated arcading with keystones above. To the left, there are three deeply set, three-pane casement windows with semi-circular fanlights above, while the right side has a pair of casements with an entrance to the upper floors at the far end. The first and second floors are divided into bays by full-height brick pilasters, with Portland stone window dressings, banding, and a stringcourse.
The central bay features a shallow balcony with a stone balustrade, and the flanking pairs of casements have similar engaged balustrading, with flat arches above that include keystones and decorative pediments. The second floor has a small central balcony that matches the one below it, along with flanking flagpoles. The round-headed casement windows have large keystones, and the pilasters are topped with swagged capitals. Above is a terracotta swagged frieze with a central semi-circular balconette that has a moulded stone soffit and a dentil cornice. The building is topped by a slate-hung mansard roof, which features a central square pavilion roof with a wrought iron railing adorned with floral finials.
