Description

The Community Education Centre is a building designed in the Free Renaissance style, constructed from red brick with brick pilasters and friezes, complemented by red sandstone dressings and slate roofs. It consists of two storeys plus an attic over a basement, with the ground sloping steeply to the left. The building features three bays, with gables on the end bays and a hipped dormer in the centre.

On the first floor, the left bay contains a tripartite mullion and transom window with a central arched light that extends into the gable. The central and right bays each have a two-light mullion and transom window with an elliptical head. The ground floor mirrors this arrangement, with a similar window in the left bay, a pair of these windows in the central bay, and a round-arched doorway on the right, which has a shallow hood supported by corbels. The entrance is enhanced by wrought-iron gates and double-leaf panelled and glazed doors featuring a stained glass overlight. To the left, where the ground falls, there is a round-headed doorway leading to the basement, along with attached railings and gates.

Inside, the entrance hall boasts a grand staircase with stone balusters.
