Description
The Clydesdale Bank, located at 30 The Square in Cumnock, was built around 1884 and is designed in the Free Renaissance style. This two-storey building with an attic features a red ashlar façade. The front elevation has three bays, with an arched and consoled doorpiece at the center, which is topped by a bipartite window. The outer bays have canted shallow oriels with balconied parapets above twin arched openings on the ground floor. The dormers are pedimented and larger at the outer bays, with the lower parts of the gables having a piended design. Additionally, there is a two-storey, two-window wing constructed from stugged red snecked rubble, featuring pedimented dormer heads and channel-pilastered angles.
