Description
The Market Cross in The Square, Cumnock, dates back to 1703 and was repaired in 1778. Originally located at Townhead, it features a five-step base and a square shaft with splayed angles. The top is finished with a moulded termination that supports a square stone sundial and a ball finial. Two sides of the sundial are decorated with the arms of the Crightons and the dates. The structure was repaired again in 1944 and 1955.
