Description
St Woolos County Primary School is a Baroque-style building dating from 1904. It is constructed of red brick with Portland stone dressings, standing on a tall brown stone basement, as the ground slopes steeply to the right. The school features large small-pane sash and casement windows. The central block consists of five bays and includes a prominent frontispiece with an open segmental pediment supported by Ionic columns, topped with a blocking. Above this, there is a small pediment with the inscription "1904 St Woolos Schools." Each side of the central block has a recessed bay, and at both ends, there are projecting gabled blocks. The upper floors of these blocks feature Venetian windows with inner lights, enclosed in segmental pediments on blocked columns. The entrance forecourt is enclosed by a stone wall with brick piers, and iron railings are placed between the piers.
