Description

Victoria Almshouses is a U-plan block consisting of nine single-storey almshouses. The building is made of red brick with painted stone dressings and features red plain tiled roofs along with tall red brick chimneys. The ends of the blocks that face the road have plastered pedimental gables. On the south gable, there is an inscription that reads "Queen Victoria Memorial AD 1901," while the north gable has the inscription "Newport Almshouses Roger Williams Charity AD 1700." Each arm of the blocks that faces inward towards the garden yard has two similar gables with oculi. The center of the cross range includes a single similar gable made of plain brick.
