Description

Little Porton Byre is a long single-storey byre, likely built in the early 19th century. It features rough timber-framed construction made of poles, which are covered by walls of broad, roughly-hewn boards. The roof is corrugated over thatch, supported by rough-hewn rafters and some trusses with collars and a ridge. The floor includes some stone flags, and the partitions are made from roughly-hewn planks and split tree trunks. The end bay facing the road has a partition, a feeding trough, and a planked door.
