Byre, Boghall

The building is a later 19th century single-storey byre range, notable for its impressive double pile design and consisting of 21 bays. It is constructed from coursed rubble with long and short sandstone dressings at the entrance. The entrance features a wide timber gable, and the roof is an M-pitched design covered with pantiles, along with some glass tiles. Later additions include ridge ventilation pipes set at right angles.

The south elevation is symmetrical, with bays arranged in a pattern of 10-1-10. It has simple, deep square feed openings. The north elevation features a centrally placed timber gable, which is currently in disrepair, and a full-height opening to the right. The west and east elevations are blank end elevations.

Inside, the byre has a well-preserved, little-altered interior. A central valley is supported by a timber post and lintel beam, and the roof is also timber. There are water troughs located in the north corners and feeding troughs in the south, which have timber edges and dividers. The interior is whitewashed.
