Description
The building is a single-storey, three-bay cottage with an adjoining byre, dating from around 1865. It is constructed of whitewashed rubble with lime mortar and features deep-set openings. The cottage appears to have been slightly raised at the wallhead.
On the southwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, the layout is symmetrical with a timber door at the center flanked by windows. To the right, the byre is slightly lower and has a boarded timber door. The northwest elevation has a gabled design, possibly raised, with a window in the right bay. The northeast elevation features a tiny window at the center. The southeast elevation, which was originally the byre, has been altered to include a garage door, and the modern replacement timber windows have a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring a stone ridge and concrete skews, while the gablehead stacks are made of coped brick with cans.
Inside, the cottage has boarded timber ceilings. The west room includes a box bed and a stone fireplace with a bracketed timber mantelpiece and a small cast-iron range. The east room has a similar fireplace with a segmental cast-iron inset.
