Description
Leitirfearn is an 18th-century cottage with minor later alterations, featuring a traditional single-storey design and a three-bay layout that forms an L-plan with a rear byre. The principal elevation is symmetrical, showcasing an advanced porch and a steeply pitched roof, with the exterior constructed from whitewashed rubble and boulders.
On the northwest elevation, there is a central door leading to a timber boarded pitched porch, flanked by single windows positioned close to the eaves. The northeast elevation presents a plain gable wall with the byre located to the left. The southeast elevation was not visible in 2002. The southwest elevation also features a plain gable wall, rendered to resemble snecked stonework, with the byre set back to the right.
The cottage includes a timber boarded door and four-pane timber sash windows, with corrugated roof cladding and timber bargeboards. There are two cast-iron rooflights on the northwest side, coped gable apex stacks, a polygonal clay can on the northeast, and thackstanes.
Inside, the walls are lined with timber. The south room contains a cast-iron kitchen range, while the north room features a late 19th-century cast-iron grate, both with plain timber mantelpieces.
