West Lodge And Gate Piers, Glengarry Castle Hotel, Invergarry

The West Lodge and Gate Piers form part of the Glengarry Castle Hotel, near Invergarry, and were likely designed by David Bryce and dated 1868. This is a single-story, L-plan lodge with a gabled form, featuring a projecting porch that fills in the re-entrant angle to the southwest. The lodge is constructed from coursed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. Bipartite windows are present in the south and west gables, and also in the two-bay east elevation. The projecting porch has a recessed doorway sheltered by a gabled canopy supported by wooden columns, with metal lattice-pane glazing. A centre coped ridge stack rises from the roof, which is covered in shallow slate with projecting eaves.

A pair of simple, square gate piers with shallow pyramidal caps flank the entrance. They are linked to similar terminal piers by a low, coped rubble wall with matching cast-iron spearhead railings. The gate lodge served as an entrance to the earlier Invergarry House.
