Description
The North Water Viaduct is a single track multi-arch railway bridge built between 1861 and 1865, with engineering by Blyth and Blyth appointed in 1863. It is now pedestrianised and features a skew design over a river, with a curving northern approach. The bridge's arches extend over a road and rise to higher ground. It is constructed of bull-faced masonry with ashlar dressings and intrados, and all arches are segmental. The structure includes tall piers with bull-nosed cutwaters and has saddle-back coping on a low parapet, which is complemented by modern railings.
