Description
Whitson Church is a Grade II* listed building constructed from yellow-brown stone, featuring some red stone dressings and quoins on the tower. The roofs are made of stone tiles and slate. The nave and porch have stone tiled roofs arranged in diminishing courses. The 19th-century porch doorway is complemented by a Norman nave doorway, which has flanking shafts adorned with foliage capitals. To the left of the porch is a 19th-century window with two cusped lights, while a similar three-light window is located to the right. There is a buttress and chimney situated between the nave and chancel, which has both small and larger 19th-century windows. The east window is a three-light example in the Decorated/Perpendicular style from the 19th century. The north side of the nave features two- and three-light windows similar to those on the south side. The tower includes a northeast polygonal stair turret topped with a conical stone roof. The upper stage of the tower has windows with two cusped lights beneath hoodmoulds. The west face of the tower features a two-light window in the Perpendicular style and an arched doorway.
