Description
This is a small ornamental bridge located in the grounds of The Hendre, likely built in the mid- to late 19th century. It carries one of the drives to the house over a small brook. The bridge is constructed from coursed rock-faced sandstone with freestone dressings and is designed in the Gothic style. It features a semi-circular double-chamfered arch that is about 2 meters wide, with a moulded corbel positioned over the apex. There is a slightly-arched chamfered string course, and the parapets are adorned with five carved pierced quatrefoil panels on either side of the center. The bridge also has ridged copings and terminal piers that have brattished tops.
