Description

This is a barn and attached byre located near Piercefield Stables, constructed from sandstone rubble and topped with a Welsh slate roof. The slate roof is only intact on the main yard elevation, while the rear slope is covered with plastic sheeting. The barn features central opposed doors with large gothic arches set in gabled porches. The yard front retains the open arch, but the rear arch is blocked and has a small red brick framed doorway. There are two tall slit vents on either side of the porches. Attached to the east gable of the barn is a three-bay byre, which has elliptically headed openings with red brick arches facing the yard. Although the slates have been removed from the front slope of the barn, they remain on the rear slope, which is otherwise plain.

The interior was not closely inspected, but it is visible that the barn has an unaltered five-bay roof. The interior of the byre is featureless.
