Description

The dam and retaining walls of the pond by the walled garden at Piercefield Park are constructed from stone rubble. The dam has a bowed shape and features a central arched niche that likely once held a fountain. Below this niche, there is another niche that still contains an iron water pipe. The dam reaches a height of approximately 3 meters at its center and spans about 30 meters in length. It forms one side of a rectangular pool, which is now mostly dry, with low rubble walls enclosing the other sides.
