Description
The pond, along with the retaining walls of the enclosing sunken garden and the piers of the surrounding former pergola, dates to around 1935 and was designed by Guy Morgan. The pond is rectangular with a curved northern end and paving slabs around its edge. It sits within a rectangular sunken garden, also with a curved north end. The low retaining wall of the garden is constructed of rubble stone, and the north end features stone engraved with “Norah’s Garden 1937” and a reset stone head. A step is located at the south end, flanked by piers. The piers, along with fifteen others forming the former pergola, are square in plan and built of rubble stone with tile bands. The pond and garden form an integral landscape feature of the substantial 1930s luxury-apartment development at Kingfisher Court.
