Description
The Church of St Mary, located on St. Mary's Road in East Molesey, was built between 1864 and 1867 by Talbot Bury, with the south aisle added in 1883 by Charles Barry Junior. The church is constructed from dressed rubble stone with smooth stone dressings and has slate roofs. It is approximately cruciform in shape, featuring a nave and aisles, four gables on the south side, a tower on the west, and a vestry on the northeast. The short square tower has a turret at the northwest corner, plate tracery windows on the first stage, a corbelled eaves band, and a tiled broach spire. The aisles also have plate tracery windows, while the west window includes intersecting tracery. The entrance on the west side has double doors with strapwork hinges and gargoyles. The northeast vestry door is accessed by a flight of steps. Inside, there is a four-bay nave arcade with five arches to the south supported by octagonal piers with foliage capitals. The chancel arch features a corbel band. The church fittings are from the 19th century, including an octagonal stone and marble font on a granite stem, and a 20th-century screen across the chancel. Monuments were removed during the time of resurvey due to the restoration of the chancel.
