Description

The Manor House and Quillets Royal is a building that has been significantly extended and divided. The right section, known as Quillets Royal, dates from the 16th century, while the left section, called the Manor House, features late 18th-century extensions.

Quillets Royal, located on the street front to the right, is timber-framed with rendered infill to the right and brick below, with incised render above to the left. It has a pan-tiled roof to the right and a plain tiled roof to the left, both with end stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a plat band over the ground floor on the left. The first floor features two glazing bar sash windows, while the right side has irregular casement windows, with two additional windows on the first floor. There is a half-glazed door in a deep recess to the left of centre, flanked by panelled pilasters and topped with a broken pediment. A pan-tiled wing extends to the rear right.

The Manor House, located to the rear left, has its main front facing the rear. It is constructed of yellow brick with red brick dressings and has a plain tiled roof with end stacks over rendered gable ends. This section is also two storeys high, with a plat band over the ground floor and a stone-coped parapet above. It features three bays, with the centre bay projecting under a steep pediment. The first floor has sash windows, while the ground floor includes a square bay window, a gauged head casement window to the right, and an angle bay window to the left. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door, with the top four panels glazed, set beneath a fanlight with intersecting tracery bars, all within a deep panelled recess. The entrance is surrounded by a Doric column and pilaster arrangement, topped with a triglyph cornice and a broken pediment.

The right-hand return front of the Manor House features a three-bay range, two storeys high, with an attic under a shaped gable. Inside Quillets Royal, the timber framing is visible.
