Description
Matham Manor is a house dating back to the 15th century, with alterations from the 18th century and extensions added in the early 19th century. It is timber-framed and largely clad in red brick, with some areas covered in incised render. The roof is tiled, with a hipped form to the front range. A large rendered stack rises from the right side of the centre of the roof.
The house was originally arranged with a lobby entrance and its main facade facing the rear. It is two storeys high with an attic, which is lit by two flat-roofed dormers. A plat band runs above the ground floor. The front features three sash windows on the first floor, and a pentice-roofed glazed conservatory extends across the ground floor on the right. Double-glazed doors are positioned to the left of the centre. A square, 19th-century projecting bay is on the left side, and an arched, panelled, and partly glazed door is on the right. There is a catslide roof to the right end.
Inside, the timber framing is visible on the right side of the ground floor rooms. Deep brick fireplaces are present, each with a wooden lintel. A staircase features twisted balusters, though some have been replaced.
